The core of the Blue Coral project will be a new circular atrium, bringing light into the heart of the building, providing ventilation and making the ascent through the building an experience. Nicknamed the 'vortex', it is a swirling dynamic vertical space designed to draw the eye upwards and entice shoppers to explore the upper levels of retail and entertainment. Escal ators rising through the space are set at differing angles adding to the drama of the space, and encouraging shoppers to explore each floor on arrival. The 'vortex' will be visible through the facade, illuminated at night, it will create a glowing beacon visible from the outside, clearly signalling the entrance and making apparent the vertical route to the entertainment level above, creating a sense of anticipation and arrival....

The yellow form of the 'vortex' will be constructed using the technology used to construct yacht hulls, giving a series of seamless monolithic forms rising through the building.
