Sean Compton

Partner in charge, Caribbean

Sean is a graduate of UCE Birmingham (Birmingham School of Architecture). During his studies, Sean took the opportunity to work for Lane Pettigrew Associates on residential and resort projects Miami, Turks & Caicos, Jamaica and St. Lucia. During his post graduate studies, Sean also worked for Bilfinger+Berger in Manneheim, and A&Q Partnership in London.  In 1995 Sean joined Glenn Howells to work on the competition design of what would become the winning entry for a new theatre & arts centre in Hereford, UK. Another competition win soon followed for the award winning ‘Marketplace’ Theatre & Arts Centre in Armagh, Northern Ireland, and a commended second place entry for the ‘Everyman’ Theatre in Liverpool. The final project Sean worked on was the winning entry for the ‘Playbox’ Theatre in Warwick, UK, before teaming up with a local restaurateur to work on the design for two locations of an award winning chain of restaurants in Birmingham and Glasgow. 

Sean then moved to London, working freelance on commercial projects including interior architecture projects at Kennedy Haywards (formerly Chiltern Cunningham Associates) for an international publishing firm and Bernardo Berteluccis Recorded Picture Company, as well as private residential projects.

 

In 1998/9 Sean set up melon|design:architecture with Pani Patsalos. In 2000 Sean moved to his native island of St. Lucia to set up the Caribbean office of melon, and since then in addition to Saint Lucia where he has worked on designs ranging from individual villas to eco hotel masterplans and implementation and high end commercial projects, he has also  worked on commercial projects Trinidad, a museum in Tobago, villas in Bequia in the Grenadines, Halls of Justices in all the member states of the OECS from Grenada to the British Virgin Islands, and projects in the French overseas territory of Guadeloupe. Sean currently divides his time between Saint Lucia and France where he coordinates projects for melons' European clients.
